Maybe it's silly to be writing about a day where I didn't do much, but I need the posts now- Basically it was like any other day, except my parents were home because they closed the restaurant for the day. I slept in pretty late and then got up to eat. My mom wanted me to bake a cake that day. It turned out okay, though baking is so hard in this little apartment. We used to have a pretty big kitchen in our old house, had an island and everything, so I had plenty of space. Here, I have to make everything on our small table in the dining room and run back and forth between the dining room and the kitchen to get stuff. It's sooooo frustrating. And it makes a mess too- I hate it A LOT.
That's literally all I did that day. My aunt and cousin's from my dad's side kept asking us to go with them out to eat. It would be a 2 hour drive to get up there to Maryland/northern Virginia. None of us really wanted to go. I've spent almost my whole life hanging out with people from my dad's side, yet I still don't like them as much as the people from my mom's side. The people from my mom's side are all generally nice and we have a very good relationship with all of them, but we can't stand the people from my dad's side. My dad's family all have a bad relationship with each other. They're always arguing, mainly about money. My oldest uncle is the absolute worst. He owns many restaurants and has a lot of money, so he always brags about it. His daughters.... I wouldn't say they brag a lot, but they're very gossipy and judgmental. My sister and I used to have a very good relationship with them, we used to hang out all the time and we grew up together, but we never talk to them now. I would say our relationship is still pretty good, nothing has happened for us to noticeably hate each other, we just became distant. We just don't talk to them anymore. We grew up and have different interests now so we don't bond anymore. I always say that I grew up like this because of them.
When I lived in China with my mom's side of the family, they were already here in the US, so I didn't know them. I lived there from when I was a few months old until I was 4. The only other kid in the house at the time was my older cousin. I was the only girl so my grandparents and my aunt babied me a lot. I always got what I want and apparently I talked a lot. I started school when I was 2, though it was pretty much just day care for me, I was pretty bossy towards the other kids, or at least that's what my mom told me.
When I came here to the US, I spent a lot of time with my oldest uncle's daughters. They were very outgoing and spoke very well, and there were three of them. I always followed along, never really saying anything. That's why I think I'm so shy and reserved now. Of course, there are many other things that contribute to it, but that seems like the main reason.
This blog post was way longer than it was supposed to be, but there's the story of my life :)
